Here I come again to post a blog at 5.30 am. Seriously I haven't slept all night just to post something interesting and memorable here.
Today I'm gonna talk about the Mentees & Mentors (M&M) PAIR Program which is offered through the Purdue Women in Engineering Program (WIEP). I'm glad to be a part of this program. My mentor for this program is Sophie. The best thing about her is that she is from the same major as mine, i.e Computer Engineering. She is as active as me. Last week we had our first meeting at the Armstrong Hall. Trust me, the meeting was so much fun. Frankly, I didn't want to go attend the meeting because I had a misconception of some speaker coming to give a lecture for an hour, but to my surprise there was no speaker as such.
Initially, everyone there was served with subway sandwiches and cookies. Then after a 10 minutes introduction. every pair was asked to solve a SUDOKU, and guess what. My mentor and I won that task. Yay!
Further came the three-legged race. My mentor and I were on the verge of winning, but unfortunately we lost. :(
The best best part was that we all members were also given an opportunity to be clicked with Neil. Sounds awesome! The pictures will be uploaded soon on the M&M facebook page.
I must say, that this meeting refreshed my mind. I enjoyed every moment till the fullest. :D
I am eagerly waiting for my next meeting now! !
I love the Mentors and Mentees program. I did not know what to expect and actually thought it might be a little bit boring, but just be a good club to be a part of. It's great though and I loved do it. I am in the group program, but I loved meeting all the new people. We had an icebreaker where we walked around with stickers on our backs and had to figure out what was written on the sticker. Then we had Subway and it was delicious. The said they are going to feed us at all the meetings and it is usually going to be even better than subway, which I am excited for. Good food is always a definite plus. Then we did speed-mentoring where the older students switched groups and talked to groups. I am so excited for the next event. I love being a part of all these clubs and activities. I just hate having to came back to do homework. I have a lot more homework than I thought I would have. The engineering pair program sounds like so much fun! I was unsure whether to do pair or group. Pairs sounds amazing though! Maybe I will be a mentor next year! (Jayne)
