Study Abroad

Being an international student I have already had this opportunity to study abroad. I have had great experiences here in the United States. If further I am given another opportunity to study abroad, I would prefer going to Germany. During my high school I had German as a foreign language. Also we were taught a lot about Germany and it's culture. I has this benefit of knowing German. I have had one of the best opportunities to study in a country like America, so I would rather prefer studying in Germany for may be a a semester or so, just to gain some experience. Germany fascinating country. It's economic status as one of the three biggest world economies, along with the United States and China, make studying in Germany even more beneficial. I can think of doing my masters there.  Experience with the German language, culture, customs, and work ethic will be beneficial.

  1. It's really cool that you want to study abroad in Germany after you study abroad in the United States. I have yet to study abroad, but I am definitely hoping to sometime during my college experience. The only problem is that there are so many places that I would want to study abroad in I wouldn't be able to decide which one! Germany would definitely be among the top countries though. Besides the obvious economic reasons to study abroad in Germany, is there anything else that attracts you about or makes you want to study abroad in Germany? (ENGR 103)

  2. Germany sounds like a great place to study for many of the reasons you listed. At my high school, we had a foreign exchange student from Germany. She became one of my closest friends and I learned a lot about German culture as well as a few swear words in German lol. Being able to speak the language will help out tremendously. I couldn't imagine going to a place and not understanding what others are saying. Its great that you would like another abroad experience on top of this one you are currently doing. Having two study abroad opportunities is going to put you that much more ahead of everyone else.

  3. Germany does sound like a real fun place to study abroad. I think its real tough studying abroad because from what I have heard, words can't describe how fun it is studying abroad so after one semester, you want to continue studying abroad. I still can't decide where I want to study but I know I will have fun no matter where I choose. Why would you say studying in the U.S. is one of the best opportunities to study abroad? (ENGR103)

  4. Choosing to study abroad is an incredibly big decision. I have probably told you this before, but I do applaud you for being so far away from home. Germany would be a very interesting place to visit I feel. I did not know that so many schools offered Germany as a foreign language. My first language it used to be an option many years prior but due to lack of interest they got rid of it. When I moved to my new school, that is when I learned the how popular the language was because it was the number one language taught (Germany is also good for use in chemistry too). I think studying abroad in Germany would be somewhere great for you to visit. It sounds like you have a large amount of knowledge and passion for learning about the culture. German culture is very interesting. I think that you should definitely go for it. It will be an unforgettable experience. College is one the best times to travel the world too. I want to study abroad in Europe also. The culture is so unique. You can also learn so much about other people. I think it can really help you grow as a person. (engr 103)

  9. I agree with you Dharna, studying abroad would be a great opportunity. I applaud you for thinking of which countries you feel have the best education system an wanting to go there to study. When I think about studying abroad, I always think about what fun things there would be to do in the place I want to go...shopping, eating, nightlife, interesting historical places. Sometimes I get really caught up in all the fun things and forget about the education part of it. If I went to Germany, I'd definitely get some chocolate and beer! :)
