Asian trends in contrast to the Greek's!

Talking about Greeks, I must say that Greeks love individuality to an extent that one cannot think of.  “Travelling for long periods under difficult conditions to attend plays and poetry readings at Epidaurus from dawn till dusk for several days in a row” proves the same.  Greeks yearn for individuality. In contrast to the Chinese, Greeks believed that freedom is most important for them. Every individual has the right to make his own decisions and are free to act as they choose. Greeks believe in personal agency and viewed themselves as unmatched individuals with distinctive goals.
On the other hand, Chinese were more into networking and socializing. “The individual was not, as for the Greeks, an encapsulated unit who maintained a unique identity across social settings.”  Chinese have their happiness laid in the harmony among the individuals in the country.  These people work together to solve problems rather than each person solving his own problem with his personal traits. This culture has its benefits. People tend to work faster and efficiently. Decisions are made quickly and unity is maintained.

  1. I agree with the statement that "Chinese were more into networking and socializing". In China, the abilities in social interaction play a key role in personal success. As a successful leader, he/she must have a large social circle and have good relationship with people in all area. I think those kinds of skills are important to everyone in the whole world. Another point " Chinese have their happiness laid in the harmony among the individuals in the country" is correct too. Asians may think of Americans as hard working individuals. But Chinese consider more about the family and whole group. (ENGR 103)

  3. I really enjoy seeing how all these different cultures and their engineering aspects work together. The more countries we learn about, the more we can peace together of a global engineering world. Your blog was fun to read, because it was so positive. You focused on the positive aspects of of both cultures and how they can come together and create a really strong engineering community. I agree with your blog and the positive part made me so fun to read. Good Job! (ENGR 103)
