Impressions

Being an Asian myself, I don’t think I have a general impression about Asians. Nonetheless, I think people do have impressions about Asians. For example, Asians might be regarded as hard-working and highly successful in academia. Another example: When Asian, especially Indians, come to the US for studies, people might be more likely to be under the impression that these student are going to study something scientific

Not only do we have impressions on Asians, we also have impressions on American people. Mostly due to of pop-culture diffused worldwide, I had a general impression on Americans that other Asian probably might share with me. In fact, before I came to the US, I thought that I would be surrounded by very outgoing party people, who constantly wanted to have fun. I also thought that college in America would be very easy to go through. I thought that engineering education in the US unlike in France for example, would be more practical and less theoretical.
