This week was an intense week like I said in my previous blog post. I say intense because in part I didn’t get a good amount of sleep. I just wanted to inform you guys something that you might already know: you need sleep no matter what !
During the week my body reacted in very disturbing ways . The most irritating and most potentially fatal reaction was done to my memory. On last Wednesday evening, I went to Ford dining hall to get some well deserved food after a whole day of studying and working out. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling sleepy despite the fact I hadn’t slept for more than 6 hours in the days preceding Wednesday. However, I still felt the effects of sleep deprivation.
As I went to the Chinese food corner, I started to serve myself with some dumpling. First I realized I didn’t even have a plate on my platter. So I got one from underneath the counter. No big deal. But for some reason I put my platter down on the left side of the counter and served myself on the right side. After serving myself, I literally put my plate of dumplings down on the counter, left with my empty platter and casually walk away from the counter ready to sit and enjoy my meal. I noticed that I had nothing on my platter after about a five second delay. I felt like I had a serious case of Alzheimer. Luckily no one was waiting in line to notice what just happened as I reluctantly went back to get my plate.
I know exactly how you feel. It sucks too, because I try to sleep early but something always comes up and makes me stay up. I've done some stupid things too when I'm tired, like falling asleep in math lecture and twitching myself awake. Sad thing is people saw me and laughed at me. No big deal, because I would of laughed to if I saw myself do that.
ReplyDeleteIt also sucks when you get the awkward amount of sleep like seven hours. You actually feel worse waking up because your body went into a deep mode of sleep. I've slept three hours one time and felt wide awake the next morning. (Jayne)
